Greetings Folks,
This week we will be discussing the impact on new and emerging trends in promoting a business.
Companies are using environmental issues to advertise their business, for example....
A new trend emerging is companies advertising on "Green Bags" (Enviro Bags).
-Nikon
-Cotton On
-Woolworths
-Coles
-City Beach
-Bakers Delight
-Fuji Film
The main advantages are:
-Advertising (People advertise your company for free)
-Promoting to all economic classes
-Recycling
-Adds a good idea about the company (Being Green)
-Mass production
The main disadvantages are:
-Cost and production of these bags
-Exposure time
-Disposable (People throw them in non recyclable bins)
What is your view of companies taking advantage of environmental issues to promote themselves?
I think its great even though they use it as a marketing tool to promote their business ( I think Katrina Krist did this),everyone includng businesses need to take responsiblity for their impact on the environment. Unfortunately these 'green bags' take thousands of years (or is it hundreds) to break down in the environment, but its better than nothing. I know I will be advertising on my website about the green things that I will do for the business.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the bag idea. I think they look cheap and would not be a method I use to promote my photographic business, maybe a grocery store or petrol station but it is beneath professional photographers who produce works of art. Better methods of advertising for photographers could be to give a free key chains to clients, pocket brag albums with your name on the front or even professional sign writing on your vehicle, word of mouth. Could you guys do some research on Return on Investment (ROI) for producing shopping bags as opposed to other methods of advertising. Is producing another "environmentally friendly bag" really environmentally friendly, think of the resources that go into making them. Why not advertise that your photographs are printed on recycled paper or ink processed rather than chemical processed thus better for the environment. I can see how bags relate environmentally to supermarkets but not to photographers. Let me know your thoughts.
